Q: What is the Emergency Stream?
A: All users have access to the Emergency stream if the PunchAlert app is on your phone or mobile device, the emergency has been released to users, and you have pressed the red banner. If you were the one to report the emergency, you will see the Emergency Stream after the Category screen. In the stream, you can view all emergency information shared by responders. You can also send information to responders through a “chat” or by using the icons.
Q: How do you “chat” with responders?
A: A chat/text message is done by pressing the Aa icon at the bottom of the screen or by pressing Write a Message. Both will place you in the Write a Message area. If you hit it by mistake, press Close. Once you start typing the Close will change to Send. These messages will appear in the stream and are denoted by the image of the person sending along with their name. You will see your messages and any messages shared with you by your responders. As information comes in, you may need to refresh the stream. Do so by swiping down at which time you will be given a Loading message. Also, as new items pop into the stream, notifications will be sent to you. Press Dismiss to remain on stream. Continue will move you forward when that action applies.
Q: How do you post/share information with responders?
A: Sharing/Posting information about you or the emergency can be done using several formats. Photo or Video: You can select the Camera icon and a screen with camera options will appear in the bottom part of the stream. This area will give you the choice of using Camera for taking a picture or video and then sending it to the responders, or you can select Photo to send a photo or video you have already taken and is located in your library. Can you send a message with the photo or video? Yes, before you post, you can attach a message by pressing the Write Message located above the Camera options. Type your message and then select Send. Recording: To post a recording, press the Recording icon. Again, it will appear in the bottom area of the Stream. You can do a 30-second recording. Just press the red button to start and again to stop. Before you post you will be able to cancel the recording or play the recording. You are also able to attach a message to the recording.
Q: Can you call a responder during the emergency?
A: The phone icon will let you call an emergency number set up by your organization or give you a list of responder names. Just press the number or the responder's name and the call will be made.
Q: How will you know when the emergency has been resolved?
A: You will receive a push notification (if you have the PunchAlert app on your mobile device), an email, and a text message. Once resolved you will not be able to access the
emergency. Your organization, however, will have a complete report of all that occurred and can access in the PunchAlert Web Console
